અર્થDuring the churning of the ocean, a burning poison emerged and distressed both gods and asuras.

અર્થWhen one lotus was withheld, the lotus-eyed devotee was ready to offer his own eye in its place.

અર્થMoved by such intense devotion, Shiva became pleased and granted the desired boon.

અર્થRepeated salutations are offered through 'Namah Shivaya'; even the gods and Brahma are said not to reach the limit of Shiva's greatness.

અર્થThe hymn says that one who recites it with focused attention receives Shambhu's help.
