What is the difference between Kumbh and Ardh Kumbh?

Kumbh Mela is a major Hindu pilgrimage and ritual-bathing tradition associated with four locations: Prayagraj, Haridwar, Nashik and Ujjain. Ardh Kumbh is a designation traditionally associated with six-year observances at Prayagraj and Haridwar. The naming and administration of specific events should follow official notices rather than assumptions based only on their year.

Planning a 2027 pilgrimage

Confirm the bathing date, official access restrictions, transport diversions and accommodation cancellation terms before booking. These two events are in different states and should be planned independently. Sacred bathing sites and temple visits may have different access rules.
