Transliterationnāgendrahārāya trilocanāya bhasmāṅgarāgāya maheśvarāya | nityāya śuddhāya digambarāya tasmai nakārāya namaḥ śivāya || 1 ||
MeaningSalutations to Shiva, adorned with the serpent king, three-eyed, ash-anointed, eternal, pure, and clothed in the directions, revealed through the syllable na.

मन्दाकिनीसलिलचन्दनचर्चिताय नन्दीश्वरप्रमथनाथमहेश्वराय । मन्दारपुष्पबहुपुष्पसुपूजिताय तस्मै मकाराय नमः शिवाय ॥ २॥
Transliterationmandākinī-salila-candana-carcitāya nandīśvara-pramathanātha-maheśvarāya | mandārapuṣpa-bahu-puṣpa-supūjitāya tasmai makārāya namaḥ śivāya || 2 ||
MeaningSalutations to Shiva, honoured with the waters of Mandakini and sandalwood, lord of Nandi and the pramathas, and richly worshipped with mandara and many flowers, revealed through ma.

शिवाय गौरीवदनाब्जवृन्दसूर्याय दक्षाध्वरनाशकाय । श्रीनीलकण्ठाय वृषध्वजाय तस्मै शिकाराय नमः शिवाय ॥ ३॥
Transliterationśivāya gaurī-vadanābja-vṛnda-sūryāya dakṣādhvara-nāśakāya | śrī-nīlakaṇṭhāya vṛṣadhvajāya tasmai śikārāya namaḥ śivāya || 3 ||
MeaningSalutations to Shiva, the auspicious sun that opens Gauri’s lotus face, destroyer of Daksha’s sacrifice, blue-throated and bearing the bull as his emblem, revealed through śi.

वसिष्ठकुम्भोद्भवगौतमार्यमुनीन्द्रदेवार्चितशेखराय । चन्द्रार्कवैश्वानरलोचनाय तस्मै वकाराय नमः शिवाय ॥ ४॥
Transliterationvasiṣṭha-kumbhodbhava-gautamārya-munīndra-devārcita-śekharāya | candrārka-vaiśvānara-locanāya tasmai vakārāya namaḥ śivāya || 4 ||
MeaningSalutations to Shiva, whose crest is worshipped by revered sages and gods, and whose eyes are the moon, sun, and fire, revealed through va.

यक्षस्वरूपाय जटाधराय पिनाकहस्ताय सनातनाय । दिव्याय देवाय दिगम्बराय तस्मै यकाराय नमः शिवाय ॥ ५॥
Transliterationyakṣasvarūpāya jaṭādharāya pinākahastāya sanātanāya | divyāya devāya digambarāya tasmai yakārāya namaḥ śivāya || 5 ||
MeaningSalutations to Shiva, of yaksha-like form, matted-haired, holding the Pinaka bow, eternal, radiant, divine, and clothed in the directions, revealed through ya.

पञ्चाक्षरमिदं पुण्यं यः पठेच्छिवसन्निधौ । शिवलोकमवाप्नोति शिवेन सह मोदते ॥ ६॥
Transliterationpañcākṣaram idaṃ puṇyaṃ yaḥ paṭhec chiva-sannidhau | śivalokam avāpnoti śivena saha modate || 6 ||
MeaningWhoever recites this sacred five-syllabled hymn in Shiva’s presence attains Shiva’s realm and rejoices in Shiva’s company.
