Travel & arrival

By rail

Haridwar Junction is the main railway gateway. Continue by local road transport towards the Chandighat approach or the current Chandi Devi ropeway boarding station.

By air

Jolly Grant Airport near Dehradun serves the region. Confirm onward road travel to Haridwar before departure.

Walking approach

The official tourism guide describes an approximately three-kilometre uphill route beginning near Chandighat. Wear suitable footwear and plan for the return journey.

Ropeway option

The Udan Khatola ropeway serves the hilltop shrine. Check current operating hours, boarding location, weather interruptions and ticket arrangements with the operator.

Pilgrimage connections

Chandi Devi on Neel Parvat and Mansa Devi on Bilwa Parvat are distinct hilltop shrines within Haridwar's Panch Tirth tradition. Plan each visit separately rather than assuming they are within walking distance.

Check current route conditions, local transport and festival traffic before travelling.

Darshan & visitor guidance

Darshan information

Visitors can ascend by the approximately three-kilometre walking route from the Chandighat side or use the Chandi Devi Udan Khatola ropeway when in operation. The walking approach involves a climb and may not suit everyone. Allow time for ascent, darshan, queues and return travel.

Check the current temple opening hours, ropeway timetable, fares and access restrictions directly before departure. During Navratri and major Haridwar gatherings, including Kumbh bathing days, crowd-control and traffic arrangements may affect the approach. Respect on-site instructions about offerings, photography and queues.

Prepare for your visit

  • Confirm current darshan hours and entry arrangements.
  • Allow time for queues, especially during festivals.
  • Follow the temple’s dress, footwear and photography rules.
