Overview
Mansa Devi is a Goddess worshipped in several regional traditions. In Haridwar, she is revered at the Mansa Devi Temple on Bilwa Parvat, a pilgrimage site traditionally associated with Bilwa Tirtha. The Haridwar shrine is one of the city’s three well-known Siddha Peetha temples, alongside Chandi Devi and Maya Devi. Regional accounts of Mansa Devi differ, and her identity should not be reduced to a single narrative or equated without qualification with another Goddess.
Significance
Devotees visit Mansa Devi seeking blessings, protection and fulfilment of sincere wishes. The shrine’s hilltop setting and connection to the wider Haridwar pilgrimage landscape are central to local worship.
Traditional context
Haridwar’s Mansa Devi is honoured within the wider Shakti tradition. Accounts of Mansa Devi in other regions, including serpent-related traditions, are not automatically identical to the Haridwar shrine’s local narratives.
