Nashik–Trimbakeshwar Kumbh 2027: Sacred Ghats & Rituals

Understand the sacred bathing places, traditions and practical considerations before planning your pilgrimage.

Ramkund and Kushavarta Kund

Ramkund, Panchavati, Nashik

Ramkund is a sacred bathing place on the Godavari in the Panchavati area of Nashik. Pilgrims associate it with traditions connected to Shri Ram, and families also visit for ancestral remembrance rituals. It is an urban riverfront site, so approach routes, crowd controls and access can change during major bathing occasions.

Kushavarta Kund, Trimbakeshwar

Kushavarta Kund is a revered water tank at Trimbakeshwar, associated with the Godavari's sacred origin traditions. Trimbakeshwar is a separate pilgrimage centre from Nashik city. Do not assume the same bathing access, ceremonial schedule or traffic arrangements apply at both places.

For devotees combining both locations, plan travel time between Nashik and Trimbakeshwar rather than treating them as a single walkable site.

Bathing traditions and respectful participation

For many pilgrims, snan is an act of devotion and purification. Practices vary by family, sampradaya and personal tradition. A visit may include prayer, a respectful offering and darshan at nearby temples; there is no single compulsory ritual sequence for every visitor.

Shahi Snan, also called Amrit Snan, includes ceremonial bathing by akhadas. Their processions and designated bathing arrangements are managed separately from ordinary public access. Visitors should not enter reserved procession routes or restricted bathing areas.

Use designated safe access points, follow local announcements and avoid entering deep or fast-moving water. Do not leave offerings, plastic or other waste in the river.

Temples and devotional connections

Trimbakeshwar Temple is a major Shiva pilgrimage destination. The Panchavati area also carries traditions connected to Shri Ram. Plan temple darshan separately from ceremonial bathing, since entry arrangements can differ.
